Aaron's Blessing

Jan 28, 2024

"Aaron's Blessing" was written after an antisemitic attack occurred during Shabbat morning services at the L'Simcha (Tree of Life) congregation in Pittsburgh, PA on October 27, 2018. Eleven people were killed, and seven other people were wounded in the attack, including several Holocaust survivors. Those who were killed include: Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger. May their memory be a blessing!

This song reflects the blessing of Aaron in Numbers 6:22-27, and it was written to honor Rabbi Jonathan Perlman and all of the members and friends of the Tree of Life congregation. It's a song that reminds us that it's important for us to bless each other, and it's sung at the end of each worship service at Christ's Lutheran Church.
